Here's what you need to know for Central Florida's weather for the upcoming Labor Day weekend:

  • Highs in 90s, may slip a degree or two over the weekend
  • 40–50% chance of rain heading into Labor Day weekend
  • Fred to become post-tropical by Friday

Tonight will become clear to partly cloudy, with lows in the middle 70s. The ridge of high pressure responsible for our recent, fairly dry days and heat is set to gradually break down tonight into Friday. As a trough deepens across the eastern U.S., our rain chances are forecast to climb up to 60 percent Friday, and a 50 percent through the upcoming holiday weekend. Best chances for rain will be in the mid to late afternoon hours, wrapping up around sunset. Highs Friday will stay in the low to mid 90s, but slip a degree or two over the weekend.

Fred is still kickin’ in the eastern Atlantic, but is set to become a sub-tropical feature soon. Wind shear & cooler sea surface temps should cause him to dissipate Friday. A new wave coming off the coast of Africa has a low chance of gaining tropical characteristics the next couple days, but a medium chance of growing a bit as it encounters the tropical Atlantic waters.
