No bond for woman with gunman

The woman who investigators said was with a man who shot and killed Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Jonathan Pine will remain in jail after a judge denied bond on one of the charges against her.

Erica Pugh, 18, is charged with burglary, aggravated assault with a firearm, robbery with a firearm and grand theft.  In court Wednesday morning she was granted bond on all the charges except robbery with a firearm and will remain behind bars in the Orange County Jail.

Pugh is being represented by the Public Defender's Office.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said on Monday night Deputy Jonathon Pine, 34, was dispatched to a reported car break-in near Apopka-Vineland and Conroy Windermere roads when he encountered 28-year-old Benjamin Holtermann.

Demings said Holterman fled on foot and Pine chased him through a backyard where Holterman stopped and waited for the deputy around a corner. That is when Holterman shot Deputy Pine three times.

“Scott acted bravely and gave his life, making a difference so that others could sleep safely while he stood guard against the perils of our society,” said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.

Deputy Pine was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died.

Deputies found Holterman near the scene dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators said Pugh was also at the scene and confessed to a recent armed robbery in the area of Hiawassee and Old Winter Garden Roads.
