Voters have spoken and Rick Scott will return to the governor’s mansion.

Scott and opponent Charlie Crist faced grueling hours on the campaign trail and both will likely have to take a step back and reflect on what’s happened over the last few months.

Crist worked to get voters out to the polls and for the most part he did that. But the efforts came up short. As for Scott, re-election is the opportunity to continue with his plans to move Florida forward as a top destination for businesses and jobs.

News 13’s Democratic political analyst Jeremiah Jaspon believes Crist will not be out of the public’s view for long.

“He is still going to have to pay his bills so I am sure he is going to have to work in some capacity. He’ll probably stay with Morgan and Morgan is my guess,” Jaspon said.

At a Wednesday afternoon news conference regarding Amendment 2's defeat, John Morgan addressed Crist’s future with the firm.

“Charlie Crist always has a home here,” Morgan told reporters.

As for Scott, News 13’s Republican political analyst Michelle Ertel said there will be no gloating and Scott should just get back to work.

“This is not a time to be beating our chests and doing victory laps and spiking the ball," Ertel said. "This is a time where we need to sit and we need to reflect and we need to find out what we did right. And if there is something that we did wrong, make sure that we take care of it so that we can be victorious again in 2016.”
